YOUR SHOT RUNNER UP: 'THE CLOUDS AT CROWDY'

Crowdy Bay National Park, NSW, by Terry Everson, Whalan, NSW

Crowdy Bay National Park, NSW: This image was taken at Diamond Head beach in the Crowdy Bay National Park on the North Coast of NSW. The national park abounds in pristine long stretches of beaches and this particular area has a surplus of colourful rock formations, many covered in lichen. The cloud formation first attracted my attention for this image and I used the colourful rocks for foreground interest and to break up the wide expanse of sea and beach. I used a Nikon D5000 with polarising filter and a Tamron 18-270mm lens at 18mm 1/90 at f16 and iso200. I...

Hotham: The Getaway Best for: The long getaway, or the ‘executive weekend’. In a nutshell: Mt Hotham is a four- to five-hour drive from Melbourne… or a serious road trip from Sydney. NOT JUST LICKING ENVELOPES: THE DO’S AND DON’TS FOR BECOMING A TRAVEL INTERN

Not all internships are about licking envelopes and coffee runs

Interning; it’s a rite of passage in the media industry. It’s that requisite stepping stone between study and becoming a fully-fledged professional. Theoretically, it’s a win-win situation for everyone - the intern gets experience and new skills, while the hosting company is able to offload some tasks. For a lucky few, that relationship can evolve into something more permanent, say, a paid full-time position? However, it doesn’t always work so smoothly. At my first work experience gig, I was 16 years old and at a Canberra-based architecture firm. In the longest week of my life I learned two things: licking...
