Crown Metropole
Melbourne's largest (and newest) hotel, the Crown Metropole opened in 2010. Here is the heads up on how much to pay and what to look out for when booking at Crown Metropole.
Metropole or Crown Metropole or just “The Metropole” is a new addition to the Melbourne hotel landscape. The hotel opened in 2010 and is the latest addition to the Crown Casino complex located in Southbank, Melbourne.
Crown Metropole is an interesting addition to Crown Casino. It already had two other hotels attached to it – Crown Towers and Crown Promenade. Crown Towers is Melbourne’s most expensive hotel. It is massive, opulent and daunting. Just like a flagship hotel in a casino should be. Crown Promenade is more utilitarian and is very much a business hotel. It plays host to a lot of Melbourne’s conferences.
Crown Metropole is different. It is well removed from the Casino and feels almost boutique. The rooms are large, very modern and extremely well appointed.
It is located at the end of the Casino site and feels well removed from the bustle of the largest Casino in the southern hemisphere. It ha s a closeted feel. And that’s great. You are living in your own, beautifully appointed bubble.
The food at Metropole is excellent. The breakfast on offer is lavish, and cooked to order. Gordon Ramsey’s “Maze” restaurant is located in the Metropole, and guarantees a quality of dining experience.
You can expect to pay between about $260 and $500 a night for a room at the Metropole. The price will vary according to demand, which does fluctuate wildly in Melbourne due to the number of major events that they host.
Who is it for?
This is a great hotel for a couples weekend away. It is a great hotel to stay in if you are looking to treat yourself.
