21 secret beaches to escape the crowds this summer. By Lee Atkinson  You can’t get more fun than surf, sand and sun. With more than 50,000km of coastline on offer, there’s no shortage of places to enjoy Australia at its best. But some beaches are wilder than others, plenty are inaccessible, and at this time of year a fair few are too darn overpopulated.

Here are our tips on where to get a beach to yourself this summer… on the proviso you keep them to yourself (and your loved ones)!

QLD Secret Beaches

NSW Secret Beaches

VIC Secret Beaches

TAS Secret Beaches

SA Secret Beaches

WA Secret Beaches

NT Secret Beaches

And Australian Traveller editor Elisabeth Knowles’s Favourite Secret Beach, it’s Wonboyn in NSW.

Calling all Australian travellers!

We told you ours, now you tell us yours! Have you got a secret beach you don’t mind sharing with other Australian travellers? Don’t worry, we won’t tell everyone – we’ll just whisper your recommendations to like-minded souls who love a good local hint on beautiful regions of Australia they might not find otherwise.
Email your ‘secret beach’ to: editor@australiantraveller.com and we’ll print your suggestions on the letters page.
