Australian Traveller Magazine’s 100 Great Australian Holiday Homes

Once through the gates and up the driveway of this beautiful residence, wild horses couldn’t drag you back out. Set on five private acres in the Byron Bay Hinterland and surrounded by macadamia and coffee plantations, the BlueGreen House is a rural cloud nine that’ll make you want to throw in your office job to become a mower of lawns or a driver of tractors.

The three-bedroom house – like a supermodel – looks good from any and every angle. Vast lawns, pebble gardens, flowerbeds, boardwalks lined with potted plants and a swimming pool with integrated spa grace the exterior, while the interior features high ceilings with wooden beams, wall-to-wall beds and an open fire and sunken terrazzo bath, among other indulgences. But the unquestionable piece-de-résistance is a lakeside thatched gazebo for that evening BBQ or afternoon snooze.
