Australian Traveller Magazine’s 100 Great Australian Holiday Homes
One of three luxury villas within a private estate on Kangaroo Island, The Sky House is our pick as the perfect base from which to explore the island’s diverse landscapes, 450km of coastline and several national parks and reserves.

Although only 16km from the Fleurieu Peninsula, KI is another world. And the Mediterranean-style private stone courtyard at the front of the Sky House makes an ideal viewing platform for the expanse of wild, unpopulated countryside and deserted shores, as ospreys sweep in graceful arcs overhead.

Secluded as it is, and with no shops or restaurants nearby, meals are specially served in various romantic locations across the estate, including a candlelit shearing shed, a simple beach taverna and the shade beneath a fig tree.

With just one bedroom, a private helicopter landing pad and a telescope for stargazing, the Sky House is the ultimate in honeymoon retreats.
