Australian Traveller Magazine’s 100 Great Australian Holiday Homes
What would you get if you took the super-luxury Kimberley adventure cruise ship True North, set her engines to all ahead full and rammed her into southwest WA’s rich-list holiday enclave of Eagle Bay? The answer, of course, is True North Ashore – the only land-lubbing venture to come out of North Star Cruises Australia. More than 70 tonnes of Kimberley stone were shipped down from Wyndham for this modern miracle of a home, and there’s a creek pretty much running through its centre, with a stunning waterfall right at the entrance. Jarrah and Marri timber is everywhere you look, with the furniture and fittings specifically designed to reflect the Kimberley, while superb Ken Duncan prints add finishing touches to many of the walls. Interestingly, North Star director Mark Stothard is currently selling the property, and says there are no guarantees the new owner will make it available for holiday rental –so, all aboard before it’s too late!
