WHERE TO STAY
As the tourists roll in during school holidays, Port Macquarie is well equipped to play host to everyone. There are heaps of options, but book early to get a spot near the beach!

WHAT TO DO
Adrenalin junkies, brace yourselves. Port Macquarie is action packed with heart-stopping activities that will make even the bravest scream.
Edge Experience is sure to get the blood pumping as you hurtle 50m down a Camden Haven rock face. For beginners, a 2m obstacle course gently gets you in the swing of it.
Once warmed up, think about Tandem skydiving. If you crave more airtime, Midcoast Micro-lights offers the opportunity to fly high through the sky in an open two-seater aircraft.
If you want something a little less intense, take a camel ride along Lighthouse Beach, go-karting, horse riding or stroll along one of the various walking tracks. Make sure you have your camera ready when you head over to the Koala Hospital, where you’ll learn about wildlife conservation while getting close to the cuddly creatures.

WHEN TO GO
The best months to visit Port Macquarie are in March, September and December. This is when the weather is at its best and coincidently the school holiday period. If you’d prefer families rushing to see the sights didn’t overrun your holiday, book your holidays for the week after school holidays. Weather will still be perfect and you’ll have the right amount of space to roam.

TRANSPORT
Unfortunately, Port Macquarie does not have an extensive public transport system. Buses are available though they run at limited times. Thankfully, most attractions around the town are within walking distance and provide lush scenery on the way.
Qantas provides up to three flights per day and is a 50-minute flight from Sydney.
