Australia’s love of The Ghan is truly enduring, and how could it not be with its history-laden (highlight-laden) itinerary? From Darwin to Adelaide (or Adelaide to Darwin), whichever way you slice it, the journey through Australia’s heart is top of the heap for rail travel.
We can’t see that changing any time soon, either, with a new extended service in 2015 including off-rail adventures in Katherine, Coober Pedy and the Alice, as well as dinner under the stars in the MacDonnell Ranges.
