Flights of (In)fancy as Australia welcomes young woman born on board a British Airways Flight 18 years ago.
Shona Owen landed the trip of a lifetime with the gift of First Class British Airways tickets to anywhere in the world, but it wouldn’t be her most extraordinary airborne adventure.

She was born 18 years ago in a first-class cabin as the plane was flying into Gatwick Airport and is the only person with a UK passport reading ‘Born on an aeroplane, ten miles south of Mayfield, Sussex’.

She was named Shona Kirsty Yves (SKY) in tribute to the unusual circumstance and is using the airline’s present to fly with her sister to Sydney as a surprise for their grandmother’s 80th birthday.
