Shooting around the country

With cameras in hand, a young Canberra family are setting off to see the most amazing continent on the planet – our very own.

In the PowerShot Great Aussie Road Trip, professional photographer Greg Power, his wife Rachel and two daughters Jasmine and Jemma, will be embarking on a four-month odyssey that will take them right around the country. And Canon has supplied each family member with a PowerShot camera to capture his or her unique experiences along the way.

“This is a unique opportunity to see Australia through the eyes of our daughters,” mum Rachel says. “What they feel worthy of photographing will be the interesting part!”

The first stop on the 17,500km trip will be Sydney, and will finish at the Power’s hometown of Canberra. Coffs Harbour, Katherine, Broome and the Flinders Ranges are just few of the places they’ll be seeing along the way.

The project was launched after Greg was asked by a national cultural institution to capture the essence of Australian life in the early 21st Century through a camera lens. Aimed at inspiring Australian families to get out and see parts of Australia they’ve never seen before, the trip will be officially launched by Canon on June 8 at Canberra Raiders Sports Club.
