An article on Sean Connolly who was awarded GQ Australia Chef of the Year for 2009

And Australia’s Masterchef is…

The next reality TV show to hit Australian TV is buying into the current obsession with all things foodie, but this award-winning chef has nothing in common with the aspiring TV stars – for one, Sean Connolly can actually cook.

All nominees for the annual GQ Australia’s Men of the Year awards were chosen for their contribution to Australian “culture, society and the national psyche”, and AT is sure Sean’s contribution to keeping our stomachs filled and minds at peace was the reason the chef category was the one that received the most interest from the mag’s readers.

Editor Nick Smith said: “Fine dining reached new heights in Australia in 2008 and the chefs category was hotly contested.” Sharing the stage with weather presenter Sara Groen and other winners, including Hugh Jackman and Baz Luhrmann, was “surreal” said Sean.
