Funny man Joel Creasey survived the African jungle in the first season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and has since been busy trotting around the globe entertaining audiences with his stand-up act.

The ambassador for Travelodge’s cheeky Refreshingly Simple campaign shares his favourite travel anecdotes and tells us how he entertains himself on flights.

1. As a child, our family holidays were always to…

Rottnest Island. I grew up in Perth and Rottnest is the holiday island about 12 kilometres off the coast.

There are no cars and it’s populated by quokkas. I was allowed to cycle around the island and do my own thing; I always felt like such an adult.

2. My local’s tip for travellers to Perth is…

There’s way more in Perth than you think. I really love Brookfield Place and all the fabulous new restaurants there.

For a fun cocktail I head to the tiki-themed Hula Bula Bar – it’s very kitsch and fun.

For a late night meal the Moon Cafe in Northbridge is brilliant, too. And on the weekends all the bars and clubs are open late with no crazy lock-out laws (*cough* Sydney…).

3. My souvenir of choice is…

Well, obviously 2.25 litres of booze from duty free!

4. I’ll never forget the time…

I always lie about my profession to the person in the seat next to me. I come up with a new job each flight to amuse myself.

Of course, the day I was a doctor was the day there was a voiceover mid-flight asking if there was a doctor on board.

“I’m a podiatrist!” I told him.

5. My carry-on luggage is usually filled with…

Old plane tickets. I travel so often my bag is literally overflowing with them. I must clean it out some time.

6. My favourite travel companion is…

My parents are great travellers. I’ve seen a lot of the world with them. Or my manager, Andrew.

7. If money was no barrier, send me off to…

A private farm in Red Hill, Victoria. Some of the houses there are absolutely beautiful.

There’s some great cafes and beautiful wineries in the area, plus one of The Real Housewives of Melbourne lives there.

8. The most adventurous thing I’ve ever done on holiday is…

Had an absinthe cocktail out of a shack bar on the side of the road in Kuala Lumpur. It was a few years ago and I think I’m still feeling the effects…

9. I fly economy…

If I’m paying. I fly business if the client is paying. And I fly first if I’ve slept with one of the flight attendants.

10. The last place I visited was…

Auckland for the New Zealand Comedy Festival… and the next place I am going is… Sydney for work. As a Perth boy I always get excited going to the ‘Big Smoke’.

One of my favourite restaurants is Riley St Garage in Woolloomooloo and I go there every time I’m in town. The pork knuckle will blow your mind!
