This is more a wish than a prediction.

Let’s set the scene: you’ve got high-end big ships like Silversea and less-pricey P&O fun ships, but on those you’re mostly sea-bound and have to share with 100s of others.

Then there’s affordable houseboat holidays where you can hang out with friends and family. Or boutique expedition ships where you don’t get much change from $20,000 per berth. We love the True North and the Orion – both ships combine luxury with true get-your-feet-wet adventure.

But because of the price, retirees are often the only folk who can afford the time and expense to enjoy them. So surely there’s a gap in the market for affordable small-group expeditions to exotic destinations? They’re already on offer in the Kimberley and Top End, but we want more. We’re greedy like that.
