Get right up close to the action and cheer on your favourite athletes around Australia this summer.

Australia is home to some of the world’s most successful sportsmen and women. And our capital cities will be hosting some great sporting events this January that you won’t want to miss out on.

Tennis fans have been holding their breath all year but now the The Australian Open Tennis Tournament is just around the corner. It will be held in Melbourne from 19 January to the 1 February. Taking the stage on Rod Laver Arena will be international tennis stars such as sisters Serena and Venus Williams and Roger Federer.

On a smaller scale, the Medibank International Tennis Tournament will be held in Sydney as part of the Australian Open series from 11-17 January. And to make sure, the west coast doesn’t miss out on all of this, Perth will be hosting the Hyundai Hopman Cup.

For the cycling enthusiasts, see seven-time Tour de France winner and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong perform at the 2009 Tour Down Under in Adelaide. He will compete in his comeback race alongside other big names of the cycling world.
