These Australian-inspired, Swiss-made watches by Bausele (centre), each contain a tiny piece of Australia… literally. Red earth, coal or beach sand is found in the crown. We quite like that idea but more importantly, we like that they’re good looking and good quality. From $248; bausele.com.au

Prestigious Swiss watchmaker IWC, have just launched an updated version of their Ingenieur Automatic watch (right), designed by fabled watch designer Gerald Genta, whose designs have previously been dubbed ‘the Fabergé of watches’. This one’s on our Christmas list. $6500, iwc.com
