Eco travel doesn’t mean itchy and scratchy travel; uncomfortable and showerless.

Take a holiday and help save the planet while you’re at it, with a set of wondrous experiences from Conservation Volunteers that will immerse you in the natural world, touch your soul and leave you feeling rejuvenated.

Did you know the only endemic species of turtle in Australia is the flatback? We aren’t even sure how threatened the species is because not enough data has been collected on the reptile.

Even more fascinating, there are only 14 major nesting sites for the flatback turtle in the world; 13 in Australia, one of which is in the heart of one of the country’s most spectacular travel destinations, Eco Beach on the Kimberley coast.

The turtles return every November and December to nest on this beautiful coastline.

Naturewise Eco Escapes’ naturalist guides have been monitoring and recording the population of flatback turtles and their nesting activities on Eco Beach for more than 25 years.

Each year, small groups of lucky travellers discover the Kimberley coast with these expert guides, who share their unparalleled knowledge of the region and its resident turtles. Guests have close encounters with the reptiles as they collect data that contributes to the long-term research project.

But it is also a holiday. Staying in the stunning Eco Villas at the award-winning and environmentally conscious Eco Beach Resort travellers have plenty of free time to explore the wilderness, relax by the pool or beach and even fit in a spa treatment.

See, an eco holiday is all about travelling to some of the most remarkable places on the planet with the knowledge that you’re not only doing so conscientiously, but helping to actively preserve the environment you’re in too. And just quietly, it won’t break the bank either.
