The best surprise restaurant… possibly ever

Who would’ve thought a family restaurant in the tiny town of Bargo NSW would get worldwide recognition?

Well, The Local Italian did just that with their limoncello. In 2010 their homemade liquer won Best in Class at the International Wine and Spirits Competition in London. Impressive.

And we can’t forget to mention the food, either. The humble restaurant is popular for its delicious hearty Italian food, including woodfired pizza, handmade pasta and home-style cuisine cooked by “Real Italian Mamas”.

The reader who nominated this spot especially loved how one of them came to sit with their group after their meal to talk and offer them the special limoncello, which he says “tasted like it was made by my Nonna. We walked through a BP service station to get there – it was a real surprise find.” We bet!
