The Glasshouse, a multi-million dollar arts, conference and entertainment centre in Port Macquarie, has already had more than 60,000 visitors since its opening in July 2009. Linda Hall, Tourism Manager at Greater Port Macquarie Tourism, says, “The Glasshouse marks a new beginning for cultural tourism in Port Macquarie, and for people living in regional areas. They now have access to Australia’s best performing arts events in a sophisticated venue, without the cost of travelling to a city.”

In fact, visitors don’t have to travel any further than the CBD, where The Glasshouse is within walking distance of the city’s waterways, beaches, restaurants and various accommodations.

Even if you can’t make it to any of the “On Tour” 2010 productions, you won’t want to pass up the opportunity to stop by and marvel at this more-than-impressive building.

The “On Tour” 2010 season has been announced and will feature shows by Sydney Theatre Company, Opera Australia and the Bell Shakespeare Company, which is the perfect way to celebrate the opening of this beautiful building.

One of the season’s highlights, Queensland Theatre Company’s “Betrayal”, will not be held at any other regional locations. It’s easy to see why the play will be presented at The Glasshouse, though, since it’s the Mid North Coast of NSW’s only proscenium arch theatre of its kind, seats 606 people and boasts an environmentally friendly design and historical preservation.

The Glasshouse also features multi-purpose meeting rooms, tradeshow and exhibition areas, catering, a Regional Gallery with a changing program of touring exhibitions and extensive foyer space providing flexible layouts for events.

Even if you can’t make it to any of the “On Tour” 2010 productions, you won’t want to pass up the opportunity to stop by and marvel at this more-than-impressive building.
