1. Seasonal Concepts

Expect a fresh whiff of seasonal flowers and earthiness of timber at this flower shop. Housed in an 1856 engineer’s workshop, Seasonal Concepts is a treasure trove of around 40 pieces of taxidermy, from peacocks to stags, which sit in contrast with brightly-hued crockery. Buy your weekly blooms or pick up an old English tea biscuit tin.

2. Quintessential duckeggBLUE

From the set of The Great Gatsby to a millionaire’s pad in Manhattan, these vintage pieces have travelled the world. You’ll find high-quality reclaimed industrial furniture from the 1800s to the 1960s. There’s modernism hidden amidst its teal-tinted sofas; but the vintage appeal still lingers in the French calligraphy notebooks and the rusted 1890s dumbbell set.

3. Mitchell Road Antique and Design Centre

With 70 dealers selling their vintage pride under the same roof, this organised chaos of time periods brings together an energetic diversity. At Mitchell Road, you’ll need a sharp eye for detail when you enter this graffiti-clad emporium or you may miss out on things like a case of original Toohey’s Draught from 1987. It’s like a trip to vintage IKEA.

If it’s not the baritone voice of Frank Sinatra coming from an old gramophone that draws you in, then the appeal of sifting through treasures from France and Belgium should do it – vintage bikes, French law books, Nicoise deck chairs and pharmaceutical medicine bottles are up for grabs.
