Pub Crawl to Art
For an art exhibition that will attract even the most masculine of blokes, AT checks out the famous Eumundi Markets.
No doubt any wife, girlfriend or female counterpart has — and always will — find it pretty difficult to get an Aussie bloke to tag along to an art exhibition. But what about one that focuses on . . . wait for it . . . beer?
As part of the Eumundi Food Festival in Queensland, the Discover Eumundi Heritage and Visitor Centre launched the exhibition: “Eumundi’s Pubs – Free Beer Tomorrow.” The exhibit displays memorabilia including old photographs, anecdotes and old merchanding including advertisements and signage. It tells of the colourful stories of those who worked within the Eumundi pubs and breweries as well as those who’ve enjoyed a few beers at the bar during the early days.
There’s also a high certainty that when you walk out of this exhibition you’ll find yourself dying of thirst. The solution? A nice cold beer. The exhibition is located in the old police cells at the back of Discover Eumundi, which has been converted into an exhibition space and was opened on Thursday June 26. It will continue in Discover Eumundi until September.
