Australian Traveller’s first-ever Readers’ Choice Awards for 2011; results for Best B&B in Australia. THE WINNER:

GLASS ON GLASSHOUSE
AT featured this place in our story on Australia’s best B&Bs in our June/July issue (“Home Comforts”, issue #39). Managing editor Quentin Long called Glass on Glasshouse “the future of B&Bs” in a television interview on Mornings with Kerri-Anne because there’s not a lace doily or crocheted tea cosy in sight. We love it for its modernist architecture, contemporary Japanese influences and fantastic views of the Glass House Mountains, all set in the Sunshine Coast hinterland an hour’s drive north of Brisbane. You love these stylish-yet-homely pavilions for their “understated luxury, breathtaking position and relaxing environment”. Apparently GOG also has an excellent café. So even if you don’t stay here, it’s worth dropping in to soak up the atmosphere.
