What A Pearl

Why not feast your senses this October long weekend? At Oysterfest in South Australia’s Ceduna you have the opportunity to do just that!

Oysterfest has come a long way since the first festival 18 years ago, which was held to lift the spirits of a suffering community and promote the then new seafood industry.

Now Oysterfest is Australia’s largest oyster festival and oysters from the Ceduna region are recognised as excellent by chefs all over the world.

Taking place from the 2nd to the 5th of October in South Australia’s Ceduna, 2008’s Oysterfest is the perfect place to spend your long weekend.

Themed “Feast Your Senses”, this year’s Oysterfest will showcase Eyre Peninsula and Barossa Valley produce and wine and fresh oysters from Smoky Bay and Daniel Bay. Street parades, music, rides and competitions will provide fun for all ages.

Oysterfest opens on the Thursday night with the Eyre Heads Portrait Price exhibition in the Ceduna Memorial Hall. Talent contest “Ceduna’s Got Talent” on Saturday night is guaranteed to entertain, before Oysterfest ends with a bang (literally) on Sunday night with a display of fireworks.

You can find out more information by calling the Ceduna Visitor Information Centre on 1800 639 431.
