The real crux of what makes this week-long harbourside festival of deliciousness so special is that it really encapsulates the spirit of our fair southern isle. Sampling the beautiful and bounteous produce from the food and drink stalls will no doubt take up most of your time: think still-kicking fresh salmon, plump briny oysters and huge crabs washed down with boutique beers or fresh juice, and polished off with flaky pastries stuffed with local cherries and apples. Yes, it all tastes as good as it sounds.

The food won’t be the only thing clamouring for your attention – a little boat race they call the ‘Sydney to Hobart’ rolls into town during the festival, too. Plus, there is loads of live entertainment, from buskers to nationally recognised artists and everything in between; a special ‘Kids in the Park’ area, and a New Year’s Eve party. A must-do at least once in your lifetime (trust us, you’ll be back).
