To pack more into a day at the Werribee Open Range zoo, just 30mins from Melbourne, the previously out-of-bounds enclosures of the lions, zebras, cheetahs, hippos and monkeys will be open to visitors for the first time in the park’s 26-year history.

For an even more in-depth experience, teenagers are offered the chance to be a Keeper for a Day, with hands-on activities in January with personal supervision and education.

And for those with an international inclination, The Rhythm of Africa will fuse modern and traditional beats at the African Village where face-painting, tribal jewellery and instrument crafting workshops and of course succulent food and drink, will complete the expedition.
