Fresh Produce on the Lake

Regional Producers Day at Lake House, Sunday February 10, 2008, Lake House, Daylesford Vic

On Sunday February 10, the Terrace Room and gardens of Lake House will be opened to regional producers and members of The Daylesford Macedon Produce Group. Individual stalls will fill the main hall of the Terrace Room and stretch out into the lush orchard and gardens of the six-acre Lake House property.

Visitors are invited to sample and taste the producers fare and fill their baskets with delicious goodies to take home. Sample local honey, handmade pastas, Holy Goat Cheeses, boutique wines, Wessex saddleback Pork, Tuki Trout, Oss Eels, Daylesford Organics garlic, apples, vegies and so much more.

Cooking demonstrations will be held every 30min in the state of the art demonstration kitchen. Recipes and shopping lists are provided so you can pick up the things you need at the stalls to prepare the dish at home!

Live music, wood-fired pizza, gourmet BBQ and delicious regional produce will all be on hand to tempt the tastebuds. It’s a day of celebration of the season’s bounty.

“In 1984 my dream of running a country restaurant in Victoria came to fruition with the opening of Lake House in Daylesford,” says Executive Chef Alla Wolf-Tasker.

“Twenty-four years later the restaurant draws inspiration from the bounty of the local region. As part of our overall policy of wherever possible reducing ‘food miles’ and developing a personal relationship with actual suppliers – much of the produce used in our menus is regionally grown or produced.”

“We support our local suppliers because we believe it’s essential for the future of food networks and a quality restaurant industry to encourage the viability and sustainability of small artisan suppliers. Each year we give local growers, bakers, butchers, provedores etc a chance to showcase their product at the Daylesford & Macedon Regional Produce Day at Lake House.”
