Where is it?

Mallacoota, Vic Far East Coast. Set among a bustling ecosystem of native wildlife, including rainbow lorikeets, sugar gliders and wombats, these pet-friendly mudbrick flats offer views of surrounding lakes, ocean and islands. Located on the Mallacoota estuary, Adobe Flats are 300 metres from the inlet (where a public jetty, two boat ramps, and toilet facilities are available), and three kilometres from Bastion Point Beach.

What’s it like?

With a focus on sustainability and “animals and people living in harmony”, the village consists of six ecologically-sound mudbrick flats and a bungalow, as well as a honeymoon cabin and farmhouse. The flats can sleep up to six guests, are wheelchair accessible, and come with solar hot water, potbelly-stove heating, fully equipped kitchen (including electric stove, fridge and microwave), television, DVD player and laundry, but personal linen is not provided. There are also several hammocks, barbecues and sundecks throughout the property.

How much does it cost?

Flats, bungalow and farmhouse from $90 a night, while the cabin costs from $75 per night.
