In the Swim – Ushi Grant Photographer Ushi Grant takes a dip with the Icebergers in Victoria’s Port Philip Bay

The Brighton Icebergers are a crazy, brave and tenacious group of guys who swim in Port Philip Bay, Melbourne, year-round, in all weather conditions and without the benefit of a wetsuit. Water temperatures can get down to less than 7ºC. To me, the Icebergers embody the spirit of what it is to be Australian – mateship, hardiness and sense of adventure than can never be quelled, at any age. The beach has long been a source of inspiration and our relationship with it has helped to shape our National identity. I wanted to be able to capture the essence what it is to be an Iceberger.
