Small group journey specialists Peregrine Adventures have started touring in Australia (amazing, since they’re a 30-year-old Australian company). More famous for their small group adventure travel to both poles, Nepal, and South America, they kick off tours in Australiain July 2008.
AT was particularly impressed by the Dreaming Place tour from Katherine in the NT. It has it all: local Aboriginal guides through untrammelled bush, canoeing and bush tucker. This is a tour we have not seen previously.
The trip begins by driving from Katherine to Manyallaluk for a night with your Aboriginal guides. The next day you begin a four-day trek eating bush tucker and fishing for Barramundi along the way. The final day is a canoe trip through the secluded top gorges of the Katherine River until you reach the more populated Nitmiluk Visitor Centre.
The adventure takes in some very special parts of Australia– $2490 per person for the six-night journey. Peregrine limits numbers to a maximum of 15. They’re also offering a ten percent discount for bookings before Feb 29. Check out http://www.peregrineadventures.com/
