What makes a holiday stay special is often the curious finds or local gems discovered while you’re there. And who knows best where those secrets hide? The locals, of course.
And when those locals own the places where you lay your head, you can be assured they’re just as passionate about delivering a great stay as they are about their own region.
Enjoy the unique local flair of each Quest Apartment Hotel location.
One of the things that sets Quest properties apart is that they’re all individually owned and operated by local franchisees.
While a high level of service is assured and consistent across each Quest Apartment Hotel – all 160 of them across Australasia – it also means every property and stay is unique.
The focus is on the guests, recognising that each one is different, and delivering the right experience for them and just how local they want to feel.
Quest business owners know the lay of the land and its local gems.
No matter what you’re looking for – the best places to eat, the most indulgent spa for a bit of reinvigoration, the on-trend shopping precincts, what’s on at the theatre, or the top spots to catch a sunset – they’re in the know and keen to share their knowledge with their guests.
It’s part of the package. And in a new place, a little local knowledge goes a long way.
Soak in water views from your balcony in Preston.
Some Quest owners have been there a very long time, like Mark Stanley, who for 26 years has owned and operated waterside Quest Manly, directly opposite the iconic Manly Ferry on Sydney Harbour.
He loves sharing suggestions for waterfront or alfresco dining or bars, and can recommend memorable activities nearby, like stunning coastal walks and sanctuaries, or a visit to the historic Q Station, which housed Australia’s first quarantine station.
Quest Cronulla Beach business owner Kevin Tang is a keen photographer and family man, treasuring photos with his kids the most.
He wants his guests to leave with great memories spent with family and friends, sharing tips on how they can do this.
Ask your staff for local tips on the best things to do during your stay.
In regional Victoria, Brendan du Kamp, owner of the brand new Quest Ballarat Station in the middle of town, loves sharing the surprising finds around his thriving country town, like amazing bespoke wine bars, gin distilleries and craft breweries.
“There’s nothing better than having your guests thank you for your recommendations when they’re departing,” says Brendan. “You know you’ve added to their experience of staying in Ballarat, which is what it’s all about.”
Liz Galea, owner of Quest Preston in northern Melbourne, also recognises the importance of great food and drink sustenance for travellers, as well as the importance of a good coffee when you’re away from home.
She’s lived in the area for 15 years and loves its cafe culture.
“When guests arrive we like to recommend local hidden gems because sometimes they don’t stumble across them themselves,” says Liz.
Further north, if guests at the stylish new Quest North Sydney are seeking a little respite in this humming urban centre just across the Harbour Bridge, owners Sam Trebilco and Joshua Harkness know just the place to unwind and recharge: their favourite green oasis on a nearby rainforest walking track.

“It’s really nice to be able to surround yourself with a bit of nature, rather than concrete, to escape. It’s so important for us, and to be able to share that with our guests is even better,” says Joshua.
Sometimes, though, a stay away from home isn’t about getting out and about and exploring the region. You might just want to put your feet up and settle in, doing your own thing in your own space.
That’s where the comfort and size of a Quest apartment comes into its own.
Quest properties are serviced apartment hotels – not motels or your average hotel – which come with the advantage of space.
Make use of the extra space in a serviced apartment.
It means they offer a real home away from home: kitchen facilities if you choose to self-cater, laundry facilities for longer stays, and room to really spread out with separate living areas.
The apartments offer a choice of beautifully styled and comfortable accommodation options; there are studio apartments, or one, two or even three-bedroom apartments for families or larger groups.
Quest Apartment Hotels have lots of options for travellers, with 120 properties across the country.
Of those, 16 are smack bang in the middle of cities, with 66 properties a little further out, and 38 in the regions. If you’d like to venture overseas, there are even 38 in New Zealand.
Get outside and enjoy the sunshine in common areas.
From Mackay to Orange, Joondalup to Geelong, Alice Springs to Auckland, and national parks to wineries, city life to beaches, outsized outback to a city of sails, there are plenty of ways to discover neighbourhood gems with Quest – whichever way and as local as you like it.
