Byron Bay is no stranger to fabulous accommodations, but none is more iconic than Raes on Wategos. The modernist three-level building designed by Brisbane-based architecture firm Richards & Spence will house 74 accommodations for both short and extended stays, including 33 rooms and 41 one-, two- and three-bedroom residences with kitchens and laundries. Melbourne and Sydney-based design practice Studio Manifold was called upon for the interiors, which have been designed to reflect Byron Bay’s coastal setting. Natural timbers, soft plaster finishes, stone and layered textures create a sense of calm and understated luxury.
Anchoring the accommodation will be the all-day Lobby Lounge, helmed by two-hatted chef and Raes Dining Room’s executive chef Jason Saxby. Saxby will also lead the in-room dining and a rooftop pool menu with elevated takes on sandwiches, steak frites and a classic cheeseburger.

Wellness is central to The Bonobo, with dedicated wellness partner, Reset , set to offer saunas, ice baths, a eucalyptus steam room, magnesium baths and LED therapy, open to both hotel guests and the broader community. “The Reset experience will be intentionally personal, centred around private and small-group sessions within an elevated environment designed to feel like a private residence," said Reset co-founder, William Schrumpf, and co-founder and creative director, Melissa Schrumpf.
