The vibrant food, music and outdoors scene in Jindabyne, Snowy Mountains, NSW, is number 90 on Australian Traveller’s ‘100 amazing places you haven’t been to yet‘. Nominated by: Georgia Rickard, AT editor; Katherine Cole, regional marketing director of; Kerry van der Jagt, travel journalist

It might not be obvious when you’re driving through, but settle in to Jindabyne for a week or two and you’ll realise a new wave of tree-changers has quietly settled in the area, bringing “a fantastic music scene and a glut of great restaurants”, says Georgia Rickard.

We all know this is NSW’s skiing hub, but the town is really at its best over summer, adds Katherine Cole.

“Bush walking, waterskiing, rock climbing, mountain biking, horseriding, abseiling, fly fishing: it’s a fertile ground for adventure and sport,” she says.

“Hire a kayak, pack a picnic and head over to one of the islands on Lake Jindabyne for the day.” Gorgeous.
