Absence, as they say, makes the heart grow fonder, and if there’s one thing we all now know, there’s nothing quite like a couple of years of separation to make you hunger for the company of your extended family.
The resort is located in a private valley in the heart of the Blue Mountains.
Thinking about organising a multi-family, multi-generational holiday to bring all your loved ones together in a convivial celebration of love? Say no to being shoehorned into a tight environment (as much as you might love and miss your family, squeezing 20 people into one home can be a bit much), and instead choose a scenic destination that seems almost custom-built for such a celebration: Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley.
An iconic Australian spot that will thrill the overseas and interstate contingent of your group just as much as it’s loved by locals, there’s no better place for everyone to meet for the holiday that’s been years in the making.
This scenic destination seems almost custom-built for family gatherings.
The question is rarely asked but we feel compelled to ask it anyway: Why Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley? Located in a private valley in the heart of the World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains, this resort offers multi-family and multi-generational groups the perfect blend of space and luxury. How does a property serve up 2800 hectares of verdant grasslands, pristine creeks and towering bush escarpments yet still feel intimate? Perhaps the voodoo is in the 40 free-standing one, two and three-bedroom villas, each featuring a spacious living area to share with loved ones (complete with a double-sided sandstone fireplace), a scenic verandah designed to capture the atmosphere of the mountain landscape, and a private indoor/outdoor pool, heated to a delightful 27°C. With enough distance between properties that you can enjoy some family time away from the greater group, getting together to continue your celebrations and activities is only a short walk (or bicycle ride) away.
Share the spacious living area with your loved ones.
A stay at Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley is of course a fully inclusive experience, with each guest enjoying a bounty of fresh, seasonal – and regional – produce across breakfast, lunch and dinner. While you can dine at the onsite restaurants, private family occasions can also be tailored as desired. Fancy a barbeque dinner under the stars, a decadent in-villa meal or a private restaurant celebration at Wolgan Dining Room? Every wish can be catered for – all you have to do is ask.

With its private pools, birdsong symphony and spa, Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley has long been synonymous with romance (a fact you’ll be thrilled about when you realise you’ve got a steady stream on babysitters at the ready), but first-timers might be surprised at just how family friendly the property is.

For those who enjoy organised clubs, Wolgan Rangers (for kids aged five to 10) turns Wolgan Valley’s backyard into a classroom with a difference, with experienced field guides taking little ones by the hand to introduce them to a range of bushcrafts and nature activities such as orienteering, hiking, fossil hunting, conservation and arts and crafts. It’s the perfect program for times when adults need a little catch up session (or two) sans little ones. This is also, of course, the perfect time to get to know the property’s One&Only Spa intimately.

Prefer to discover new sights and experiences together? Horse lovers (and equestrian novices) can explore the majesty of Wolgan Valley atop one of the property’s pampered horses (no kidding: they all have their own masseuses to tend to those equine knots). You can choose between a 90-minute trail ride, a tailored half-day journey in the surrounding valleys, or, if your kids are a little unsure, start with a ‘meet and greet’ complete with a stable tour or a simple introductory arena ride.

There’s nothing to say exploration has to be done on four legs; groups also have the option to take a hike (these are tailored to suit every group’s ability levels and interest, whether it’s getting to know the local wildlife, bush ecology or cultural heritage), go on a scenic bike ride, roam the reserve by 4WD or lock in a history tour. You can also make the most of the property’s impressive facilities by enjoying a dip in the expansive swimming pool, challenging each other to archery or tennis, or gathering the group for a campfire and stargazing session out in a remote pocket of the reserve. What could be more perfect than sitting around a roaring fire with your loved ones as you toast marshmallows, view planets and constellations, and laugh as you share happy memories while creating plenty more?

The best part about your stay at Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley? Not only are you creating new memories with your nearest and dearest, but you’ll be teaching the younger ones to become better eco citizens. Join the property’s conservation team to gain greater insight into the ecology of the region, and learn what you can do to make a positive impact on our planet so our kids can one day come back with their own children and grandchildren to enjoy a holiday in this iconic destination.
