We’re getting on our bikes for the Pedal to Produce gourmet trail Milawa, High Country, number 35 on Australian Traveller’s ‘100 amazing places you haven’t been to yet’. Nominated by: Johanna Griggs, Seven Network presenter.

If your tastes run toward the gourmet, and you don’t mind losing yourself in the countryside for the weekend to appease it, Johanna Griggs advises you to get on your bike –or someone else’s.

“The Milawa gourmet region is a culinary and cycling extravaganza, and you can hire your bikes from the Brown Brothers’ vineyard,” she says.

With Milawa right in the centre of it all, there is a ‘Pedal to Produce’ trail drawn out around the Victorian high country foodie capitals of Rutherglen, King Valley and Glenrowan, and makes use of one of the state’s famous rail trails as well as the small country roads between farm gate product stops and cellar doors.

“If you do the whole ride, it’s 42km,” Griggs says, “and it’s all flat terrain on-road and the rail trail.” Read on for her highlights.
