Tree of life
“In the centre of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens there is one tree that stands out from the rest. I took this photo one lazy Monday afternoon, and chose my subject because it looked very surreal, like an illustration from a book: nearly perfect, with limbs that spread out wide in near symmetry under the clouds, with skyscrapers in the background to put everything in perspective. It amazed me something so serene is just a minute’s walk from the central business district. I used a Canon EOS 5D MkII with Canon EF 24-70mm 2.8 L lens, a Hoya HD circular polariser, and the settings were: ISO 100/f8/24mm/ ¹⁄80s. I also used a Manfrotto 190XPRO tripod.”
