The lower part of the building is draped in a vertical garden, surely a reference to the parks and gardens that encircle North Adelaide. Facades in faceted sandstone recall the colonial-era buildings of surrounding streets.
The lobby and reception at Majestic M Suites apartment style hotel.
But while Majestic M Suites is wonderfully integrated into this heritage conservation zone, there’s nothing old-fashioned about it. This sophisticated, all-suite hotel packs considerable 21st-century style.
Majestic M Suites is an apartment-style hotel, and you get an immediate sense of airiness and open-plan space. Step inside the lobby and you’re into a spectacular void flooded with light, and surrounded by contemporary design. Think textured walls, mirrored finishes, bespoke furniture and decor that blends stone, metal and wood in soothing tones such as coffee, charcoal and cream.
Fantastic art, all individually designed, is inspired by South Australia’s landscapes. Particularly striking are large artworks made from Australian timbers that seem to flow across the walls.
Australian timber artists Toby Muir Wilson was commissioned to create much of the art found on the wall throughout the Majestic M Suites. This work depicts Adelaide’s Torrens River.
There’s always something appealing to look at, although you might be distracted by the views beyond enormous plate-glass windows that give panoramas onto North Adelaide. Some of the suites on higher floors capture vistas of Adelaide Oval and the light-twinkled city centre.
Majestic M Suites is a hidden sanctuary, nestled in an historic neighbourhood and yet within easy distance of all the action, whether you’re aiming for the sights or the business district. The hotel’s leafy courtyard is an oasis, too, where you can relax with family, friends or colleagues. Get together at the four-metre-long refectory dining table in the outdoor barbecue area, or find a green nook all to yourself.
Majestic M Suites is a hidden sanctuary in the heart of North Adelaide.
This is a retreat for the stylish, but we all know the best hotel stays require practicalities, too. No worries there, since Majestic M Suites has secure undercover parking and chargers for electric cars. The eco-consciousness extends to the entire building, one of South Australia’s most energy-efficient, with 300 solar panels on the roof.
There’s a gym if you need to limber up, although the green spaces of North Adelaide make for some fine jogging. Then there’s that other modern necessity, Wi-fi, which is complementary and unlimited throughout the guest suites, courtyard and hotel’s two business-meeting rooms.

Contemporary, stylish accommodation is offered in generous one-, two-, three-bedroom configurations as well as spa suites, which have a deep, soaking bath. All have a private balcony or terrace, lounge, dining area, work desk, fully equipped kitchen with high-quality appliances and necessities, and internal laundry. Every suite includes a bath and separate shower, with a second bathroom in both the two- and three-bedroom suites.
Since the hotel is all-suite, there’s plenty of room to move about and a great sense of relaxation and hominess. That makes Majestic M Suites perfect for an indulgent weekend, a weeklong holiday, or a business visit.

Meanwhile, none of the welcome extras are forgotten: smart TV, iPod docking station, coffee machine, minibar, safe. When it comes down to it, the thing we want most from a hotel is undisturbed sleep, so big tick for the king-sized beds, double-glazed windows and block-out window coverings.
Attractive though Majestic M Suites is, you’ll want to get out and explore. North Adelaide is the city’s best neighbourhood, close to city bustle but less crowded and more relaxed than the CBD. It’s entirely surrounded by parklands and features wide, tree-lined streets and laneways where grand heritage-listed houses, row cottages, churches and pubs provide abundant character.
Despite its heritage charm, North Adelaide is right on trend when it comes to shops, bars and cafes, especially along O’Connell and Melbourne streets. Great dining options are found within a short walk of Majestic M Suites. Check out the breakfast and lunch fare at Jewish-style delicatessen The Flying Fig or at Pippo North Adelaide, which has terrific all-day brunch options.
The Wellington Hotel is around the corner if you have a hankering for pub grub or a well-earned drink. Dinner options include Marrakech Restaurant for aromatic, flavour-filled Moroccan, Beyond India for creative Indian cuisine, and Ruby Red Flamingo for classic Italian, among other options.
If you’re here on holiday, key attractions lie nearby. Adelaide Oval, venue for cricket, football and music concerts, is a 10-minute walk. The kids will love Adelaide Zoo, the only place in Australia you can see pandas. Next door is the oasis of Adelaide Botanic Garden, which has one of Australia’s best plant collections and the nation’s largest single-span conservatory. Wine lovers should make a beeline to the National Wine Centre of Australia, art lovers to the Art Gallery of South Australia.
Incidentally, the new Majestic M Suites is part of Majestic Hotels & Apartments, all of which feature a central location, secure parking, free unlimited Wi-fi and custom-made king beds. Also in North Adelaide is the stylish and eye-catching Majestic Minima Hotel for compact, art-filled rooms at inexpensive prices.

Just down the road, the recently refurbished Majestic Old Lion Apartments supply fully-serviced apartments ideal for families and groups travelling together. Majestic Tynte Street Apartments offer self-contained studio and one-bedroom apartments with kitchenette.
Meanwhile, in the heart of Adelaide, Majestic Roof Garden Hotel blends old-world charm and all the modern essentials and is within a walk of many of the city’s most popular venues. Finally, if you’re heading towards the Stuart Highway or Flinders Ranges for an outback odyssey, you’ll find Majestic Oasis Apartments on the waterfront in Port Augusta.
