What better way to see this vast land than with the window down, radio up, and wind in your hair? Enter the great Australian road trip – and your resounding favourite, taking a staggering 70 per cent of all votes, was the Great Ocean Road.

This 664-kilometre stretch of cliff-tops, sandy beaches, lush rainforest, prolific wildlife and the iconic 12 Apostles, beat Tassie’s East Coast Escape, the Kimberley’s Gibb River Road, the Pacific Coast Highway and even the Nullarbor to take top prize. The GOR is famous enough to attract tourists from across the globe, but that doesn’t mean she can’t (and doesn’t) provide a local thrill: and for that, we love her even more.

Runners Up: Best Road Trip

2. Tasmania’s East Coast
3. Pacific Coast (Sydney, NSW to Brisbane, Qld)
4. Gibb River Road, Kimberley, WA
5. The Nullarbor (Ceduna, SA to Perth, WA)
