With Two Feet & a Heartbeat’s new Sydney Small Bar Tour, we spoke to co-founder, Ryan Zaknich, about his city favourites.

York Lane

This little gem in York Lane only holds 35 guests so you can actually hear conversation. The design is timeless, made from repurposed materials like wall shelves made out of dismantled Ansett airline trolleys and light shades out of teak salad bowls. Try the homemade dips with sourdough and sample the cocktail menu, or come on Saturday night and dance to vinyl.

Mojo Record Bar

Just below street level on York Street, Mojo is all about rock music. And it’s little wonder with a record store to the left as you enter. You can peruse it late at night, drink in hand, or listen to the daily playlist while cosying up in one of the bar booths with a local beer or original cocktail. If you get peckish, staff will order in something from neighbouring restaurants.

Since I Left You

Step into yesteryear at this Kent Street charmer, with an outdoor area taking up an old carriageway. Inside its monochrome and pressed-metal interior is a dangerous cocktail list – try ‘The Good, The Bad and The Berry’. The homemade guacamole and charcuterie plates are also a hit. The name comes from The Avalanches’ song, which opens with “get a drink, have a good time now, welcome to paradise…”.

There are Two Feet & a Heartbeat Small Bars Tour in Sydney and Perth.
